Animal Facilities of ZOC/SKLO

ZOC/SKLO has three major animal facilities.

1.The animal facility at the new ZOC/SKLO campus in Zhujiang new town in Guangzhou covers an area of about 1000 square meters mainly for mice and rats.

2.The animal facility at the old ZOC/SKLO campus in Ouzhuang in Guangzhou covers an area of about 530 square meters mainly for rabbits and nonhuman primates.

3.The animal facility of ZOC/SKLO in Conghua, about one hour away from Guangzhou, covers an area of about 500 square meters for nonhuman primates.

All the animal facilities implement international standard for animal housing, care and experiments, and are equipped with major experimental instruments, such as surgery microscope, ultrasonic emulsification machine, vitreous cutter, tonometer, anesthesia device, fluorescence fundus angiography instrument, ophthalmic ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, slit lamp digital imaging system, corneal endothelial cell counter, electroretinogram (ERG), optical coherence tomography (OCT), microinjection system, etc.
