Zhongshan ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University designated as the "World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Eye Health and Vision," recently announced the release of the Chinese edition of the WHO's "Eye Care in Health Systems: Action Plan" and its complementary toolkits. These publications, commissioned by WHO and published by the People's Medical Publishing House, marked a significant milestone.

In 2019, the World Health Organization put forth a visionary proposal to include eye care as an integral part of universal health coverage and to implement the global strategy of "Integrated People-Centered Eye Care (IPEC)." To address the common challenges that nations may encounter while executing IPEC, the World Health Organization formulated the "Eye Care in Health Systems: Action Plan" as a pivotal guide for IPEC planning and execution. It delineates the crucial stages of "Analyze-Plan-Implement-Review." Furthermore, 5 supplementary toolkits have been introduced to tackle specific aspects of each phase.

The comprehensive series provides guidelines to professionals in eye health planning, management, and implementation.

The translation of this series was undertaken by Professor Liu Yizhi as the chief translator, Professor Liang Xiaoling and Professor Liang Lingyi as associate translators. The translation team comprises young scholars from ZOC.

The English version of the guidelines series is available for free download on the official website of the World Health Organization at https://www.who.int/publications/i/item/9789240050068.
